NARR

Construction workers found the first body. A decomposed skeleton in a suit and fedora. A dog walker found the second. Within the following week, the wife of a local casino owner was kidnapped, two secret agents had arrived on Long Island, and a Michelangelo painting had gone missing. Finally, today, the third body appeared. For high school forensics teams on the case. The big question is: are the incidents connected? [WHAT's HIS FIRST NAME? OR LAST NAME? CAN'T GO WITH JUST ONE ... UNLESS HE REFUSED TO GIVE HIS OTHER NAME.] Duclass, the leader of Brooklyn Tech's forensicS team - twelve would-be detectives in all --, was on his way to the scene of the crime. The floor of Clam's Casino.

AX: Duclass

Well there was the casino owner, he might have something to do with this because he's really into money. Maybe he stole the painting for his own financing. We heard there were two secret agents in the casino, there's agent 24/7 and agent Buenos aires. So.

Have you met the two agents yet?

No, that's what I'm going to do right now. I'm gonna talk to all the suspects, get a feel for how they act.

NAAR

While teams from HOW MANY high-schools investigated , a swarm of suspicious characters continued gambling . There's the Sultan, dressed in an elaborate Persian costume handling a rubber snake. Monte Carlo, the gruff voiced casino owner. Snake Eyes, the career gambler responsible for bankrupting two separate casinos. A band played as the detectives went about their work. While the interviews continue, Aaron AGAIN - OTHER NAME???, another member of the Brooklyn Forensics team, examined the area where the Michelangelo painting was stolen.

AX: Aaron

We believe that somebody used a… they broke the glass and end up cutting they hand, used a razor to cut out the painting, and in the process, the frame broke, and they rolled the painting up and left with it. Then they set the bomb afterwards to destroy the evidence, but I guess that didn't work out.

This year, the winning team will be awarded $12,000 in scholarships to Long Island University's CW POST campus. This is Brooklyn Techs third year at the competition. The team took 4th place last year. Today, they hope to take one of the top three positions - and some scholarships. Kay Syriana, is advisor for Brooklyn Techs forensic team.

AX: SIRIANA

A lot of 'em are interested in forensic science, and they're all seniors, so they're really really that scholarship. And several of them have been accepted CW POST, so $12,000 a year is a nice sum of money, so they have an extra interest in doing well.

NARR

This is the 8th year for the Forensics World C.S.I. Challenge. The competition is the brainchild of David Tricamo, a detective seargent for the Suffolk County Police Department. Each year he picks a theme; roaring 20's, and Camelot, in the past;

This year, a modern day setting. A hybrid of James Bond and the Thomas Crown Affair. He says the mystery revolves around Monte Carlo, the shady casino owner on Long Island who sets out to steal three panels painted by Michelangelo.

AX: TRICAMO

So basically what he does is he sends someone to go steal the panel in England, and when the guy comes back, he rubs him out.

NARR

That's Body number one.

AX: TRICAMO

Then he sends another person to Rome to steal the other panel where it resides, and when that person comes back, he rubs that person out.

NARR

Body number two.

AX: TRICAMO

And now the last remaining panel is on Long Island, so he sends someone who works in his casino and he finds out in the middle of this conspiracy is that that person is having an affair with his wife. So he ends up rubbing that guy out as well.

NARR

Body number three.

AX: TRICAMO

But this year it's basically Monte Carlo… please don't share this

Yeah, I was just going to say: did you just tell me the whole secret?

Yeah I did.

Okay, I won't say anything.

[CUTTING THIS FOR TIME - NEED TO CUT A FAIR AMOUNT....]

NARR

At the crime scene, the Brooklyn Tech students continued trying to tie clues together. Three students in sterile shoe covers and plastic hair caps scoured the area around the black jack table. The body of card dealer Roy L. Flush lies in the corner. He'd been shot, and, the forensics team worked to lift fingerprints from the scene. As the evidence was slowly removed, Brooklyn Tech found a clue.

AX

We should announce what we found on the radio.

I'd like to hear it, what have you found?

Alright, it's super secret. Can't spread it. There's a gun inside that curtain right there.

Oh really?

You can see the shadow in the other teams. But you can't spread that secret.

You're right, I see it in the other curtain. What does that mean?

I don't know, if there's finger prints on it, we have a list of people and the guns that they own. That's key evidence right there.
