Peabody Award for Harris
Shayla Harris ’00, has been awarded the prestigious 66th Annual George Foster Peabody Award for “The Education of Ms. Groves,” an hour-long documentary chronicling the struggle of a young first-year teacher at a tough urban middle school in Atlanta, Georgia that aired on Dateline NBC. Harris is an award winning video producer with The New York Times where she reports on local, national and international stories.

Save the weekend of Sept. 29 for the European launch of the Columbia Alumni Association. Joining President Lee C. Bollinger will be Nobel laureates Orhan Pamuk and Joseph Stiglitz, Earth Institute Director Jeffrey Sachs and Journalism Dean Nicholas Lemann. The day-long symposium will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Le Palais Brogniart (La Bourse), followed by an evening reception at La Grande Galerie de l'Evolution (Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle). Regular admission for alumni and guests will be $150 per person and includes admission to the Saturday daytime symposium and evening gala. Admission for alumni and guests age 28 and under is $75 per person. There will be a reception for Journalism alumni on Friday, Sept. 28.
