Dave Mayers was born an Air Force brat in San Antonio, TX, nearly a quarter century ago. After graduating from St. John’s with majors in English and history, Dave turned down lucrative job offers to work at his local WaWa. Before entering Columbia, Dave split his time teaching and freelancing as a writer and a photographer.

Dave wants to use new forms of media to cover areas of the world and issues that are often overlooked. He’d like to focus specifically on the effect of oil politics on West African States.
