Journalism Students Covered the 2004 Election
November 4-- After a long campaign, Americans elected George W. Bush
for a second term on November 2. Student reporters and producers
covered the final moments of the presidential race up to the minute
with spot news reporting, feature stories, video pieces and a radio webcast. Check in for local election results and reports from around the city and region. |

Bronx Beat
The Bronx Beat has a weekly circulation of nearly 6,000 when it is
distributed in the spring to residents, city officials, private sector
organizations, editors and writers at New York City's dailies, and
Columbia faculty members and students. This is a hands-on opportunity
to experience community journalism and learn about residents' concerns
in some of the city's most diverse communities. Students plan, report,
write and produce this weekly newspaper that focuses on the Bronx.
Faculty members, including some adjuncts from local newspapers, advise
and coach the students and help them edit their stories.

economic -- in our society, particularly in the New York City area.

Covering Religion: The Soul of the South
Reports from Charleston and St. Helena, S.C.; Atlanta; and Marion,
Montgomery and Birmingham, Ala. Reporting explores the impact of the civil
rights movement on American religion today. Field reports were filed from
the road, March 12 through the 22. Also features reporting from throughout
the winter and spring. |

MetroBeats
A weekly radio magazine produced by Columbia University journalism
students. The magazine is broadcast on the web and is put together by
the 2004 radio workshop. The show strives to provide up-to-the minute
newscasts, thought provoking analysis, and original and unique stories
about New York City and the world.
