The Bronx Beat

Spring 2004

Bronx Beat is a real newspaper, with a circulation of nearly 6,000, distributed to residents, city officials, private sector organizations, editors and writers at New York City's dailies, and Columbia faculty members and students. This is a hands-on opportunity to experience community journalism and learn about residents' concerns in some of the New York City's most diverse communities. Students plan, report, write and produce this weekly newspaper that focuses on the Bronx. Faculty members, including some adjuncts from local newspapers, advise and coach the students and help them edit their stories.
