E-polls win in close election

Telephone pollsters aren't exactly throwing their random-number dialers into the Hudson River yet, but Internet polling has come a long way into the mainstream over the past four years. Even after a string of successes by a leading Internet polling company in 2000, many pollsters remained skeptical. Some of these same pollsters, though, are now saying that when the dust of the race settles, the 2004 elections might be a turning point in the evolution of the science of polling.
