Mary-Rose Abraham
Before coming to Columbia, Mary-Rose Abraham worked as a reporter and anchor at KKJZ-FM in Los Angeles. She currently freelances for NPR and VOA. She has a bachelor's degree. in Biology from UCLA.

Galima Bukharbaeva
Galima Bukharbaeva, a journalist from Uzbekistan. She gradauted journalism faculty of Tashkent State University in 1997. Galima worked for five years as a correspondent of Agence France Presse in Uzbekistan and five years as a project director of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting in Uzbekistan.

Giuliana Chamedes Giuliana Chamedes is a PhD student at Columbia University's Department of History studying human rights. She will be living in Italy next year.



Joseph Chaney Before attending Columbia University, Joseph Chaney worked as a
Mandarin-English translator.

Gabrielle Galanek is a student at the School of International and Public Affairs. She focuses on Southeast Asia..

Megan Hauser
Megan Hauser has recently traded in her gypsy wagon for a stint studying journalism. She soon hopes to hop back on board and cover stories 'round the globe. Her BA in arts from Duke and her job giving money to women's groups in Asia have well prepared her for
this venture.

Elsa Heidorn
Elsa Heidorn was a part-time radio producer while she worked in immigration law as a legal assistant. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 2000 with a degree in German and Philosophy.

Matt Hirshberg
Matt Hirshberg taught political science at University of Canterbury for fifteen years before coming to Columbia. He went to Oberlin College and has a Ph.D. from University of Washington.

Marcelle Hopkins
Marcelle Hopkins is a freelance producer for Pacifica Radio. She has
worked in the Middle East, West Africa and Latin America.


Dani McClain
In addition to freelancing for such publications as AlterNet and Cincinnati's alternative weekly newspaper, Dani McClain has taught high school social studies and worked for Drug Policy Alliance, a national non-profit organization. Dani received a B.A. in history from Columbia University, and she will graduate from Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism in May 2006.

David Ressel
On the business side, David has been a consultant for IBM, Polaroid and Deloitte and Touch. He spent 14 years in various positions at Viacom and MTV Networks. He gave up the corporate life to be a journalist, NYC Tour Guide, radio intern and actor (SAG/AFTRA). He also has a B.S. degree from Cornell University

Tamara Rosenberg
Tamara Rosenberg is a French journalist working for public television in New York.

Zaidee Stavely
Zaidee Stavely worked as a freelance journalist based in Mexico City before coming to journalism school. She has a B.A. in Latin American and Latino Studies and Community Studies in the University of California Santa Cruz.

Dina Temple-Raston

Dina Temple-Raston was a longtime foreign correspondent in Asia and a former
White House correspondent for Bloomberg News. She has published two books
and has another, on homegrown terrorism, forthcoming in 2007 from Public
Affairs. She is a frequent contributor to NPR's Morning Edition and All Things
Considered and was in Columbia's mid-career Masters program.
