Workshop Archive- Columbia Radio News

These hour radio programs are produced and written by reporters in Radio Workshop and broadcast on the Internet each week. In this class, students write and report news and feature stories in a variety of short and long radio formats. Particular attention is devoted to long-form radio journalism forms used at NPR and in other public radio news organizations. Most stories emerge from a beat followed during the semester. Spring 2006 - Radio Gotham Radio Gotham staff Spring 2005 - Radio 116 Radio 116 is a weekly radio magazine produced by Columbia University journalism students. The magazine is broadcast on the web and is put together by the 2005 radio workshop. The show strives to provide up-to-the minute newscasts, thought provoking analysis, and original and unique stories about New York City and the world. Spring 2002 - New York Now
New York Now was a weekly production by the 16 students who make up the 2002 Radio Workshop, taught by John Dinges and Barbara Mantel. Each student has a beat they cover when reporting most of their stories, but produce interviews, commentaries and short documentaries on an array of subjects as well. In addition, each week the students have production duties to put on New York Now live on the web.
